Secret Ending Walkthrough
Unlocking the Secret Ending
Undine and the Nightmare features two endings, one of which is unlockable through some extra steps. Neither ending is necessarily more interesting than the other; for a full game experience, it is recommended to have played both.
This post will detail how to unlock the secret ending while minimizing spoilers for the game.
Walkthrough
Summary
You must collect four items hidden around the game to unlock the tower's basement. The secret ending is unlocked once the basement's area has been beaten.
Item Locations
Outside the tower
Head towards the upper right corner of the area until you find a large orange jellyfish.
Volcano dreamscape
Once the area has been beaten, backtrack from the exit towards the left of the room, or head up from the entrance. You can jump onto elevated ground.
Forest dreamscape
Take the stairs down from one of the rightmost tall tree to access a hidden room.
Sky dreamscape
The item can be found on the buffet in the middle of the area.
Basement area
Unlike other sections of the game, once you leave, it is not possible to return to the basement, nor is it possible to obtain the normal ending after completing the basement area. To avoid needing to play through the entire game twice, it is recommended to save the game before unlocking the basement.
Summary
The basement is split into two areas. Undine and Kokoro will remain separated until both of the room's puzzles are solved.
Jellyfish puzzle clues
Clue 1
Undine can interact with a device at the center of her section of the room.
Clue 2
The correct answer to the number puzzle corresponds to something about Undine's new team.
Clue 3
This is a color-matching puzzle.
Candle puzzle clues
Clue 1
Undine can interact with a device at the center of her section of the room.
Clue 2
The correct answer to the number puzzle corresponds to something about Undine's old team.
Clue 3
Both the candle and the well are interactive.
Puzzle solutions
Jellyfish puzzle
While the dial at the center of Undine's section has been set to 2, which turns the jellyfish orange, Kokoro must push the jellyfish onto the orange button at the top of the room. Then, Kokoro must interact with Cassidy's shadow on the other side of the lamppost.
Candle puzzle
While the dial at the center of Undine's section has been set to 5, Kokoro should interact with the candle once, then the well, and agree to snuff the candle out. Then, Undine must interact with Cassidy's shadow, which is a step behind her if she is in position to interact with the device.
Exiting the basement
Summary
Once both of the Cassidy shadows have vanished, interacting with the static at the bottom of the room will make it disappear. Undine and Kokoro can talk to one another to reunite as they did in the Forest dreamscape. Only the well and the grave will trigger dialogue.
The girls will automatically leave the room after interacting with the grave that was blocked off by static.
From then on, this save will trigger the secret ending at the end of the game.
